Maruani Mercier Gallery will exhibit David LaChapelle’s ‘We Forgave Deeply Then Love Flooded Our Hearts’ (2017) at this year's Art Brussels. The piece is a part of LaChapelle’s newer body of work, 'New World' which The New Yorker describes as “pressing toward the utopian, abandoning more sordid conceits for something arrantly sacred.”
Art Brussels is pleased to announce the participants of its 50th anniversary edition, which brings together 147 galleries from 32 countries in three sections: DISCOVERY, PRIME and REDISCOVERY. DISCOVERY: the focus is on young, emerging and lesser-known artists with recent works (2015-2018) PRIME: the focus is on established artists from modern to contemporary. This section offers the possibility to extend the stand with a REDISCOVERY stand or a SOLO presentation. REDISCOVERY: dedicated to art from 1917 to 1987, the section presents living or deceased artists that are under-recognised, under-estimated or forgotten.
Anne Vierstraete, Managing Director of Art Brussels says:
“In celebration of the fair’s 50th anniversary this year, we are going back to our roots with a strong display of support from the key Belgian galleries as well as a high rate of returning galleries. The fair will continue to be an exciting lab for discovery and a place to see booths from some of the top blue chip international galleries.”
Art Brussels is proud to have played a pivotal role in the city’s burgeoning art scene which has developed over its 50 years and now also includes satellite events around the time of the fair. Brussels hosts a well-established collector base and a large number of private collections, as well as being a draw for artists and consequently a number of artist-run initiatives.
The Fair is open 19-22 April 2018
